ABOUT ZAVIŽAN CHALLENGE

Tougher than the Grossglocker Hochalpenstrasse and many other famous mountain climbs!

Virtual race which takes place on the traditional way of Uspon na Zavižan race, the biggest one-day MTB race in Croatia. Mostly uphill from Senj (0 m) to Zavižan (1594 m), 38 km, 1650m climb, half asphalt, half macadam. Starting in the medieval town of Senj, finishing in the National Park Sjeverni Velebit. The road offers beautiful views on the mountains, the coast and the islands and is marked with visible red signs, which you cannot miss.

Wanna try? It's easy: you only need any application or device recording your performance (Strava, Endomondo, Garmin and many others) and register here.

Starting package costs HRK 80 (ca 10EUR) and contain:

INSTRUCTIONS

Register via this web
Your race number is also a ticket to the National Park. Remember your number and save it it in your mobile phone, in order to tell it / show it to the rangers at the Park entrance
Pick up your starting package at Café Mirakul, on the main square in Senj, and have a free coffee. They are open Mon-Sat 6AM - 11PM, Sun 7AM - 11PM

Make a selfie at the finish line in front of Zavižan chalet, and ask a free drink
The easiest way down is to follow the same route.
Your family/friends/service staff can follow you in a car all way long. They just need to pay entrance fee to the National park. Please mind that half of the way uses macadam and gravel roads
Temperature on Zavižan is in average 10°C below the sea side temperature. The difference is noticeable esp. on the descent.
Spent the rest of the day up on Zavižan, walking or hiking on the summits around, with breathtaking views on islands, coast and mountains around
Last but not least, don't forget to submit your time and GPX file as a proof. And add the selfie you have taken on the top, in front of the mountain cottage! :-)

Participation is at individual risk and responsibility of each participant and BBK Senj is not responsible for any damage occuring to the participants neither to any third party. The challenge takes place on public roads under ordinary traffic. Every participant must obey traffic rules and regulations, must wear a helmet and must follow the way from the start to the finish. Also an air tube and a pump are compulsory equipment. Virtual race is based on fair play, BBK Senj reserves the right to randomly check the participants and their recordings before publishing final results in this website.
